Lamberhurst GC Captain 2024/2025On behalf of all the members and staff, a very warm welcome to Lamberhurst Golf Club. I am extremely honoured and privileged to have been elected as Captain of this wonderful golf club, the history of which extends back over 130 years to 1890. We are very fortunate to be situated in the historic High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with many spectacular views from both the golf course and the Clubhouse. Whether you are a scratch golfer or higher handicapper you will find many challenges on our parkland course with its variety of doglegs, undulating fairways and fast, true greens. Accuracy will be rewarded! We have a full programme of internal competitions and external matches, both friendly and competitive. Members, new and not so new, are encouraged to involve themselves in these. They are a great opportunity to meet, play and mingle with other members. Hospitality towards visiting golfers and societies alike is paramount to our ethos and we pride ourselves on providing a warm welcome to all. Lamberhurst Golf Club is a members’ club, run by the members, for the members. Despite, or perhaps because of, our history, we have a constant focus on renewal and enhancement of both the course and other facilities in order to leave a legacy for future generations of members at least equivalent to that which we inherited. Recent major investment projects include installation of our Swing Studio and, more recently, the acquisition of the major section of the golf course grounds into the freehold ownership of the Club. Having played your round, we invite all members, guests and visitors alike to enjoy our Clubhouse hospitality. We have a well-stocked bar and varied catering offering to suit all tastes. There are few better places to enjoy a post-golf drink than the terrace at Lamberhurst, but the conviviality of our bars and restaurant is equally appealing. Our Head Professional, Will Davies and his Assistant Tom offer a wide variety of services ranging from lessons for complete beginners, sharpening up sessions for experienced golfers, club fitting and, of course, a well-stocked shop to satisfy the keenest of golfers. They run a thriving junior coaching session with opportunities for youngsters to enjoy competitive golf if they wish to do so. As Captain my charity for the year is Dan’s Fund for Burns. Founded by Polly Brooks (Miller) in the aftermath of the Bali Bombings of 2002, Polly was the sole survivor of a party of ten. Having suffered severe burns herself, she has firsthand experience of the physical and emotional devastation such injuries can cause. Dan’s Fund offers assistance to burns survivors in the UK ranging from help and guidance, funding, job retraining, equipment for hospitals and more besides. As a small charity, but one very close to my heart, Dan’s Fund is in constant need of funding and I know Lamberhurst Golf Club members will assist in this cause very generously. I thank you all in advance. |
