Welcome to the Veterans’ section of the Lamberhurst website.
Mr David Kirk
Vets Captain 2024
It is a great honour to be appointed Captain of the Vets for 2024 and I shall indeed put all my efforts into continuing to ensure that the Vets section is run smoothly and successfully, whilst at the same time enjoying ourselves both on and off the course. We have a full schedule of events throughout the year:
We meet every Monday (except bank holidays) teeing off generally between 8am and 10.30am for a variety of individual and team events
We have 27 friendly matches against clubs from Kent and Sussex, giving us all the opportunity of playing some very fine courses
2 friendly matches against our own club and the ladies section
3 very relaxed and friendly “awaydays ” each year at Eastbourne, Willingdon and Lullingstone
Teams of over 60s ,70s and 80s playing in the Kent leagues and knockout competitions
A three day “mini tour ” travelling and staying away to play a top course each year
2 social functions …….an annual dinner and Christmas lunch
Other than playing golf and having a good time, we raise money for a chosen charity each year and this year it will be the Motor Neurone Disease Association. This is a disease that has no cure and arises when the motor neurones in our brains and spinal chords stop telling our muscles how to move. This leads to loss of muscle mass affecting walking, talking, eating, drinking, breathing, thinking and behaviour. Most people don’t survive beyond two years. A very close relative of mine contracted MND and we are all aware of a significant number of high profile celebrities and sports people who have suffered in the same way. Any funds raised this year will be very gratefully received towards ongoing care and research and if you would like further information please have a look at the MNDA website (https://www.mndassociation.org/).
We are always looking to welcome new members to the Vets section and if you are 60 or over please do not hesitate to either give me a ring on 07504 515216 or email me at [email protected]
May I wish everybody a very healthy year and a thoroughly enjoyable time on the golf course.
