LAMBERHURST GOLF CLUB
The 2011 Junior Open
(KCGU Junior Order of Merit & Daily Telegraph Qualifier)
Wednesday 1st June saw 46 junior golfers from all corners of Kent, tee it up, to compete in the 2011 Lamberhurst Junior Open Championships.
Boys and girls ranging from 10 to 18 years of age contested the event over Lamberhurst Golf Clubs immaculate 18 hole course.
The event was blessed with sunny conditions, making the day thoroughly enjoyable for all who took part, including spectators and organisers.
The course, required its normal precision play in order to achieve a good score. The best was achieved by George Dale from the London Club who won the event with a credible 3 over par 75. Max White from West Kent Golf club achieved the Runners up position with a 4 over par 76.
Three divisions of handicap category were competed for and were won by - Div 1 Liam Orchard from Sittingbourne G.C-Div 2 Bill O ‘Rourke from Sundridge Park.G.C and Div 3 Luke Robinson also from Sundridge Park GC.
A special prize was awarded to Lamberhurst’s own 10 year old Connor Saker. Who put in the gutsiest performance of the day, although taking the most shots to complete the course, never gave up and always kept trying.
